On Sunday September 5th, 2021 A new place opened for the Muslim residents of South Vancouver.
Al Arqam foundation is located at the south end of Fraser street and marine drive, an area much in need of a place for Muslims to congregate and pray.
Maulana Jahangir, the founder along with his committee has embarked on a mission to serve the local Muslims of the area. With new developments along marine drive and in the vicinity of Fraser street there are more residential places that will attract more people in the area and thereby increasing the need for Muslim families to have a place they can easily drive and walk to fulfil their spiritual needs. Maulana Jahangir expects more than 600 families to move in the neighbourhood over the next few years and felt it necessary to start a new location to serve the growing needs of the Muslim families in the area.
Mufti Aasim Rashid was the guest speaker on the opening day and he stressed the need to have more places to fill the needs of the Muslim community.
At the present they have one unit available to start offering salat immediately and they are working on the adjacent unit to renovate and prepare the washrooms and the wudhu place.
They plan to have full 5 times daily salat and Jumuah salat along with madrasah classes starting next month.
