BCMA Statement on Passing Away of Shaykh Al Qaradawi

Al salamu ‘alaikum wa rahmatullah

I hope this message finds you in the best of health and iman. With great sadness, I write to you today, on behalf of the BCMA’s Board of Religious Services, to announce the passing of Shaykh Yusuf Al Qaradawi rahimahullah. Indeed, to Allah we belong and to Him we shall return.

Shaykh Al Qaradawi was a man who spent his entire life serving Islam and Muslims. He was a mountain of knowledge and respected authority in Islamic jurisprudence in our times. The Shaykh authored approximately 120 books, countless articles and papers, was the president of the International Union of Scholars, was one of the founders of the European Council for Fatwa, was named among the 500 most influential Muslims, and was a guide and mentor to thousands of scholars worldwide. Few of his contemporaries could match his knowledge's depth, breadth, and calibre.

Shaykh Al Qaradawi passed away today at the age of 96.

May Allah forgive our Shaykh, accept his many contributions and sacrifices, forgive his shortcomings, and grant him the highest place in Jannah. Amin
