India’s RAW & Afghan’s NDS complicit in Dasu Attacks in Pakistan

8-12-2021

On Thursday August 12th, 2021 Pakistani Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi in a press conference  claimed that the Indian spy agency Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) and Afghanistan's National Directorate of Security (NDS) were behind the Dasu bus tragedy.

The bomb attack took place in the Dasu area of Upper Kohistan district where a Chinese company is building a 4,300-megawatt hydropower project on the Indus river.

The terrorists attacked the Dasu dam On July 14 in which at least 13 people – nine Chinese nationals and four Pakistanis – were killed and more than two dozen others wounded when a shuttle bus they were travelling in plunged into a deep ravine after an explosion on board.

The bus was ferrying the Chinese and Pakistani workers to an under-construction tunnel site of the Dasu Hydropower Project in the remote Kohistan district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province.

Addressing a press conference in Islamabad, Qureshi said that Afghan soil was used during the attack and the vehicle used was smuggled into Pakistan.

He said the security agencies reached this finding based on the CCTV footages of 36 cameras installed along the 1400 kilometer stretch of the road. Moreover, the evidences including a thumb, a finger and other body parts of the bomber were also examined besides analyzing the mobiles data and questioning of over 1000 workers of project.

He said the investigation teams had identified and tracked the movement of the vehicle used in the attack and had also been able reach out to the handlers.

He said Pakistan had shared the details of the probe with China and both the sides resolved that such incidents could not undermine their resolve rather they would emerge stronger. Qureshi resolved that the probe will be taken to the point of exposing the perpetrators as well as taking them to task.

The Chinese officials have visited the crime scene and were updated about the investigation, Qureshi said, adding that China was satisfied with the probe.

Speaking on the occasion, DG Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Javed Iqbal said that a thumb and a limb were found at the crime scene which belonged to the suicide bomber.

He said that 14 different characters were involved in the attack and was headed by a person named Tariq who is a member of proscribed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). "We have arrested three suspects [out of the total 14 characters involved]."

He said that Tariq and another suspect Muawiya were trained in Afghanistan by RAW and NDS to carry out the attack, adding that the suicide bomber Khalid aka Sheikh was an Afghan national.

Last month, Pakistan alleged that the mastermind of an attack in Lahore on June 23 was an Indian citizen" and he was associated with R&AW. Later it claimed that a "common link" has been established between the Dasu blast and the explosion outside Saeed's house.
