BCMA Releases funds for Palestine Relief

6-10-2021

Wednesday, June 9-2021.

The plight of Palestine refugees who have been displaced by the recent airstrikes by Israeli Defense forces are worthy causes to support in the aftermath. Gaza experienced continuous nights of airstrikes and attacks, with a rapid escalation of violence. These attacks have already killed over 100 people, including children with no end in sight to the rising tensions.

During the recent conflict, over 66,000 Palestine refugees were displaced at UNRWA schools.

Today, just over one million Palestine refugees out of a total population of 1.4 million are reliant on UNRWA food assistance, as compared to just 80,000 in 2000. There are over 400,000 people in the Gaza Strip who do not have regular access to safe water. The bombing devastated electricity and water services, and severely affected the three main desalination plants in Gaza City.

Alhamdullilah, On Wednesday BCMA had a joint meeting with Canadian Registered Organizations (IDRF, HCI and IRC) who are currently carrying out relief efforts in Gaza.

This year, with the help of generous donors and existing BCMA funds accounts (Zakat Fund and Gaza Relief Fund), BCMA has contributed $180,000.00 towards Gaza Food and Medical Relief, including the Iftar programs.

Iltaf Sahib, President of The BC Muslim Association stated, “BCMA’s primary objective is to assist all affected families with basic necessities through a reputable registered organization in Canada without any administration cost. In addition, these organizations are diligently providing periodic reports of projects undertaken on behalf of BCMA.

May Allah reward you for your contributions to help our needy brothers and sisters locally and abroad.”
