Statement from Premier Horgan on Eid al-Fitr
VICTORIA – Premier John Horgan has issued the following statement to mark Eid al-Fitr,
the end of Ramadan:
“Beginning today, the Muslim community in B.C. and around the world will begin to gather for Eid al-Fitr, marking the end of the month of Ramadan.
“Ramadan teaches us the importance of gratitude and tolerance, while also reminding us to be compassionate toward those who are less fortunate.”
“As traditional prayers, food and well-wishes are exchanged, the universal values of unity, charity and peace are also celebrated on Eid al-Fitr. These are values that this government also shares.
“Whether through volunteerism, charitable giving, or taking a lead in their local communities, all British Columbians have benefited from the contributions of the Muslim community. As Premier, I have seen this commitment firsthand and today, and every day, our government will always commit to stand up for diversity, inclusion, and mutual respect.
“On behalf of every British Columbian, I wish all those who observed this holy month a joyous end of Ramadan.
“Eid Mubarak!”
