Hangout with Youth Part 2.0– Oct 14

On October 14th, a youth only breakfast cum workshop was conducted by Shaykh Daood; where participants enjoyed a full course Canadian breakfast courtesy of Chef Mahmood & Chef Hussain. Shaykh engaged the youth in various activities and provided platform for youth to discuss topics that are relevant to them.

The Youth candidly discussed impact they can create in society. Shaykh Daood stated that we can create a huge impact by reducing food waste. He showed a video about PAGPAG – a dish made from leftover food that was collected from garbage sites, cleaned and cooked so that people in slumps of Philippines can have at least one meal a day. In Canada we take food for granted and waste a lot. We can have huge impact by stop wasting food in our individual capacity from NOW!

The youth also discussed approach toward substance and legalization of cannabis. Shaykh Daood guided the youth about teaching of Islam on this subject and importance of avoiding things which intoxicated the body, mind and harmful for individual and the fellows.

More than 50 youths from Burnaby, Surrey and Tri city attended this workshop and expressed desire to have such sessions on an ongoing basis.
