Shakeel Gaya For Port Coquitlam City Council

9-19-2018

Port Coquitlam is a nice place but can be much better .

There needs to be an intensive effort at development in different densities of population. Right now we are heading for an urban sprawl with some low rise development only. Encouraging high rise construction at the right places will result in saving land for green spaces. PoCo attracted the least number of people, while our neighbors in Port Moody had the second highest growth in the region.

The proper planning will also enable us to fight for the expansion of the Sky-Train to Port Coquitlam. This will help in reducing the congestion and the resulting pollution from traffic jams in the city.

We will be able to provide more green spaces for the residents , specially for families looking for local fresh, green spaces.

The economy of the City can be expanded by new business ventures including eco-tourism. This will attract  the local people and our neighbors from Metro Vancouver.

These activities will generate revenue for the city and keep local taxes low thus encouraging prosperity for the residents and profits for the business owners.
