Leadership Qualities for Muslim Community based Organizations

Dear Respected Brothers and Sisters
Assalaamu Alikum wrb.
Doing community based social work in any Muslim Organization in various Boards and Committees for the benefit of the society as a whole is a very noble and a righteous deed; provided one does it solely to gain the approval and pleasure of Allah SWT.
If you decide to join the Community Service and serve the Deen of Allah SWT, then first educate yourself about the roles and responsibilities and then see if you will be able to dedicate the time and the sincere effort that is required of any given portfolio or position.
It the duty of the community to choose or elect the Candidate that qualifies for the various position based purely on the merit of Education, Qualification and Previous experience , proven track record along with dedication and sincerety.
Be an educated and a proud Muslim Community Worker/ Leader, not an arrogant self centered, egonostic or abusive person. Power, Politics and Wealth have a tendancy to weaken some people.
Be Humble and treat every human being with respect and dignity.
You will have to earn the respect from the community. Respect does not come automatically by holding a position or title, but respect will come when you use your the knowledge that you have learnt and put into practice on a day to day basis.
Respect comes with time and experience and wisdom and being truthful, loyal and sincere in the service and commitment that one has undertaken. Always stay on the right path of Truth and Justice. Do not get involved in “ dirty politics” or take sides for your personal benefit or to win favours and get popular.
It is very important that one should practice what he /she preaches.
Try to emulate the life of the Beloved Prophet SWS and the Righteous Khulafa- e- Rashideen and the Pious Predecessors.
When one has attained these qualities, then Allah SWT will instill the respect for his beloved servant in the hearts of the people in the community Insha Allah.
Remember one thing that is most important:
“ You have joined the Organization to Serve and Protect the Musaalees and the Muslims in your Community, NOT to Rule over them”.
May Allah guide us all to Siratim Mustaqeem and accept from us our humble service.
