BC Muslim Association 50th anniversary statement

3-22-2017

On behalf of the board and trustees of the Pakistan Canada Association - Al Jamia Masjid Vancouver I am honoured to extend our heartfelt congratulations to the BC Muslim Association on the auspicious occasion of its 50th Anniversary.

The Al Jamia Masjid Vancouver is rightly regarded as the birthplace of our Muslim community in the lower mainland and it was in this historic place that the BC Muslim Association was launched in 1965.

The accomplishments of this great organization are only made possible by the grace of our allmighty creator and by the participation and support of the many donors and congregants that have established Masjids throughout BC and have spread the word and example of our beautiful religion of Islam.  In these turbulent times it is our duty to “hold tight to the rope of Allah all together and to be not disunited among yourselves” (Surah AlI-Imran ayah 103).

On the day of the BC Muslim Association Anniversary program six of our brothers were murdered during their time at prayer at their Mosque in Quebec City.  This event shocked us all and indeed this heinous act shook the entire nation of Canada.

The outpouring of support, condolences and love from members of every religious and agnostic community, men, women and children that took it upon themselves to stand with us at vigils, rallys and at our Mosques is a testament of our greater humanity.

It is with this experience and knowledge that we must all dedicate ourselves to our faith and to each other.  Time unfolds as it does since the beginning of creation and it is our hope that the next 50 years facing the BC Muslim Association and ourselves will be years of good health, prosperity and happiness for us all Inshallah.
