Canadian Against Atrocity

2-22-2017

Muslims live in guilt and fear. Guilt because of the atrocity by their fellow Muslims in various places when they themselves are not at fault. They fear and suffer because there is similarities in both. They look alike, they dress like each other and pray. Sikhs have suffered this because of their Muslim look.

Any one who takes arm or discriminate against other religion does not know his/her religion or of other.Quran is misquoted as cut and paste out of context without going into the full content by both, to serve their objective. The Islamophobes are one example and DASH/ ISIS another

I recall a friend during Bosnia conflict being sad explaining to me on question that he was apprehensive if same thing might happen to us here. I laughed off. I reassured him that it is West. People are educated and unbiased. I further added the quoting how government was apologising to the Japanese for what was done to them. Unfortunately, my friend’s apprehension was correct.

Unfortunately, the world has plunged into chaos. We all are witness to these. This has been and is accelerated by some religious and political leaders for false gain at the cost of humanity.

Immigrants who ran away because of atrocity at their home countries to have peaceful and better life, see the future dark. All of us are immigrants here. I noted a satirical comment with the picture of our respected native Indian at the time of Trump campaign, “I do not like immigrants”

The incidence of the killing of 6 innocent people have aroused our nation to rise against the terrorism what ever the source may be.It is unprecedented, heartening and inspiring to see such an overwhelming support for the community which has been seen with suspicion of root of terror even with plea against it.

Politicians and public across the nation and internationally even Trump has come out in support and sympathy for them.

Remarkable was the statement in the Parliament of MP, Joel Lightbound to rise in the House of Commons Wednesday to vow “never again.” He addressed his statement to Quebec’s Muslim community with whom [he] grew up. “I also want to apologize to them. I apologize for having observed stigmatization and ostracization over the past few years, having seen the mistrust, the fear, and the hatred among my peers. And having tried to respond, but not having done enough,” Lightbound said, adding a warning that “silence also has consequences.”“You are at home in Sainte-Foy. You always will be,” he said.

Our Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau said, “We will defend you, love you, we will stand by for you.”  Rona Ambrose said, “An attack against the place of worship on people praying is the most heinous attack on freedom of us and on which Canada was founded”, Tom Mulcair added, “We mourn with you, we pray with you. We promise we stand united and fight forces of bigotry and Islamophobia.

Francois Legault and from public of Katleen Weil to name but a few were giving similar thoughtful message of sympathy and support. They all reassured Muslims that it is here, their home.

No doubt the fire of hatred is not extinguished. The next night of the incidence another Mosque was vandalised and conservative leadership candidate Kellie Leitch without any hesitation repeated her stand on immigration on this very occasion. Of course we trust our leaders to have guidelines for immigration with underlying principle of fulfilling the need of our nation and not separating families.

Those who stand against immigration should clarify in civilized terms what do they mean? Who do they mean? They ought to put forward their profile and that of their ancestors of contribution to Canada and have them compared with those of immigrants.

It is pathetic to see virulent comments and protests against Islam and Muslim following the proposed motion against Islamophobia by MP Iqra Khalid. It is again inspiring to see support from majority of Canadians and condemnation against such bigotry.

Thus we need to march with Canadian flag to eliminate bigotry and establish Canadian values.

We should maintain this tempo of support and stay alert against those spreading bigotry across our nation be it political leaders, would be political leaders and uninformed part of the public. Any bigotry should unite and energise us much more to act. We all are Canadians. Long live Canada!
