Sri Lankan Muslim Society of Canada (SMLS) hosted Meal and Clothing Distribution Event

Today the Sri Lankan Muslim Society of Canada (SMLS) hosted their Meal and Clothing Distribution event in the downtown eastside. Empowered by group of brothers who came together, contributing everything from articles of clothing to fully prepared dishes, almost 400 of the area’s underprivileged and impoverished were greeted with some of their most basic needs.
In an area where homelessness and starvation run abundance, and substance abuse rises to abnormally high levels, the brothers gathered around Carnegie Hall in downtown Vancouver from 1:30 to 3:30.
The Sri Lankan Muslim Society looks to further fulfill one of its mandate of promoting a sense of community and extending generosity to the less fortunate through any available avenue.
