11-29-2016

On November 19th, Muslim Food Bank welcomed Jenny Kwan, who came to distribute backpacks as part of “Project Backpack”. Project Backpack is a cross-cultural, cross-community effort to support refugee and poverty stricken children. Organized by Child Aid International, Humankind and the office of Jenny Kwan, MP Vancouver East. Together they raised $24000 to purchase 850 sets of backpacks.  Backpacks included lunch kits and water bottles.  In addition to the backpacks, fleece sweaters and hand knitted toques were also given. These were distributed to appreciative Syrian families and newcomers. Thank you for taking the time to present these contributions which will help these families integrate into Canada.
