ISBC: Unreserved Islamic Position Against Terrorism

7-12-2016

The Islamic Centre of British Columbia (ISBC) strongly condemns the gross act of terror in Istanbul, Turkey. We are deeply saddened by the loss of precious lives as a result of the recent terrorist crime in Istanbul. We mourn the loss of the 44 people lost and their families and loved ones. We pray for the 239 injured for a speedy recovery. We stand in solidarity with all the people of Turkey, and feel their pain. ISBC  joins all people of faith and good conscience in standing against terrorism, extremism, and hate.

These horrific acts moreover should not be permitted to vilify and stereotype the peaceful and law abiding Muslim community worldwide. We live in an era where terrorists and evildoers across the globe have taken far too many lives, and ruined many more under the false and twisted misuse of religion and social/political views.

No religion would condone such behavior, therefore, people of all faiths must unite to stand against criminals who resort to violence to fulfill their whims.

We pray and continue to work and hope for peace and non-violence.

Muslims are the largest number of victims of worldwide terrorism and suffer between 82 and 97 percent of terrorism-related fatalities. http://www.state.gov/j/ct/rls/crt/2011/195555.htm
