Justin Trudeau to Surrey,"Canada deserves a better Prime Minister than it has right now."

3-10-2015

On March 4th, Justin Trudeau delivered a 20 minute speech in which he outlined his parties position on issues relating to Candadians across Canada.

His vision is deeply rooted in a Canada that is Strong.  He stated that  "Canada's diversity is our great and unique strength."

He welcomed all the local nominated candidates for local Vanccouver ridings.

The next day Mr Trudeau held a meeting with the local South Asian media in a roundtable meeting.

Trudeau was very frank in the discussion and stated clearly that we might not agree on everything, but he stated that he will always engage and be open and respectful with everyone to listen to others opinions to build a responsible democracy in the 21st century in Canada.

Mr Trudeau said his party is open to all Canadians and there is a very open process to get nominated as a Candidate. He is confidant about his team accross Canada.

Alameen Post Managing editor asked Mr Trudeau about the nomination of Nour El Kadri, a green light candidate in the Nepaen Riding in Ottawa who was let go from the process. Mr Kadri teaches at the University of Ottawa and is a former Director of National Outreach for the Liberal Party. He is active in the community and leads efforts supporting Cancer Research, the Heart Institute and Student Scholarships. He is a Laurier Club member and a member of LPC for more than a decade.

The decicion to let him ago has been much of a controversy. Mr Trudeau said, "Mr Kadri was dishonest with the liberal party in the application."

Bill C-51 has raised many concerns across Canada. Mr Trudeau said after September 11, the Liberal party introduced a bill for the secuity of Canadians but after extensive consultaion with all relevant stake holders. He said, "I wish not to make this a politcal match but in a few months there will be in an election campaign and if Canadians want to amend the bill, the liberal party is clear that once elected they will make the necessary amendments, But regardless of what the opposition parties do, the bill is going to pass, because Canadians after all in the last election voted Mr Harper to lead a Majority Government."

On Isis he stated that they represent a threat to global citizens and Canada has a role to play. He stated that  his apporach to deal with ISIS was different than  Mr Harper's decision of Air Strikes. Our role should be to assist and train local fighters.

He was very clear about cancelling the income splitting plan which will actually benefit 15% of Canadians with a 2 billion dollar tax break. His party will also invest in education, re-training, apprenticeship programs, investment in housing for middle to lower income families who cannot afford housing by working with municipalities.

Br Tarik Kiyani from Soni Dharti Pakistan asked the final question about comments made by politicians and judges about Muslims and their practises. Mr Trudeau replied that we have a charter of rights that protects all Canadians. Canada has learnt some difficult lessons, from Komagata Maru, the internment of Japanese and Italian Canadians during the Second World War. "These are some lessons Mr Harper has forgotten. The politics of fear at a time of uncertanity  is another reason why Canada needs another Prime Minister."
