2-09-2015

ICNA Canada highlights the importance of family-values in Islam in all major cities of Canada on Family day long weekend. A family program was organized by local ICNA Chapter at Surrey resource centre on Feb 08th.

At start families had some time for socialization. Program started around 4pm with recitation from holy Quran by our young brother Abdul Hadi.
Next hour or so was for our young ones. It was open invitation to youth, boys and girls to come to microphone and perform. Some recited from holy Quran others recited anasheed of Islam and naats. Youth presented speeches and presentations about importance of family in Islam. Group of youth did and short play to highlight the importance of obeying parents. On the sisters side kids enjoyed face painting as well.

The guest speaker shaikh Zoheir Tahar talked about “Family Values in Islam”. He mentioned that successful and happy family starts with right choice of spouse, our criteria should be Islam when one chooses a spouse. We should be content with whatever Allah gives us. Problem starts when we become workaholic and don’t spend time with our families. Providing Islamic education to our children is also critical. He also mentioned that our masajids are failing our next generation because in most cases they are not providing vital services to our youth and families.

Program ended with a delicious dinner. ICNA Canada thanks brothers, sisters, kids and youth for their participation. JazakAllah khairan
