Time to reflect

1-27-2015

Let's be transparently translucent; there is good and bad in every culture, race  including those who follow a religion, including Islam. We need to look into the mirror and be able to self examine ourselves in order to help our reputation.

The mosque is a place of worship and an educational institution. We need to treat it with respect and teach our children proper mannerism like punctuality, no rough play in prayer halls, no texting in classes, no property destruction, respectful manners and more including an appreciation of food.

The masjid is Allah's home, there should be no littering, no verbal heated arguments, no destructive vandalism and Arabic school should be a place of learning not a babysitting service for a few hours while the parents have some "free time".

There were several converts in our location and now you never see them, wonder why?

We need to know who is sick in the community, who needs work, who is getting married, whose marriage needs guidance and more. Sorry to say, the Imams and Sheiks do not know it all. We need to use our valued resources within to make us strong and that includes the rich who, need to help out. The world is going rapid with wars, terrorism, global economic uncertainty, refugee costs and we can do our part to make our community stronger to repel the negativity.

Our masids need democratic elections not dictatorship-type managers bunkering down in their position for a long time and unwilling to budge. I've said for years, we need a program to educate newcomers and refugees to teach them Canadian values and how they can integrate and contribute while still holding their beliefs.

I've helped for a long time and seen ongoing visible problems. There are, like I said before, some excellent examples of kids, brothers and sisters but we need to be stronger, not weaker in trying times and be an active voice in your religious community and outside.

We are stronger when we are united than divided. I think we have enough on our plates, and there is no excuses for ignorance. Remember, there is a judgment day for those who do bad deeds and for those who turn a blind eye.

I've attended some other mosques and they are more structured and better.
