Surrey Muslim School Fundraiser

11-19-2014

November 16, 2014 the students of the BC Muslim School Surrey put on a fabulous show at a fundraising event to raise some much needed funds for the school. By the Grace of Allah, the target was $80K and the guest responded to the call and the school was able to raise the $80K.

The evening started out with the students from different levels delighting the audience with their performances on Islamic songs, poems, duass, and nasheeds.

The School board also recognized the services given by key members of the community who played an important role in assisting the school in acquiring the current locations under the Bombay Banquet Hall, which has attracted enough students and is now running at maximum number of students it can accommodate.

BCMA Vice President, Education, Mr. Faisal Ali presented the audience a synopsis of challenges the board faces, and obstacles they still need to overcome, but in all, the independent school is running better than expected, as the enrolment is up to its maximum capacity, a team of experienced and diverse teaching staff.

BCMA President, Mr. Musa Ismail congratulated the community for acquiring the new school building, and acknowledge that this is not sufficient in regards to the community's growing needs, however, it is better than what it was a year before, where students were cramped in small class rooms, housed at the two BCMA Surrey Mosque. He believes that the purchase of the school would provide a stepping stone for the get a bigger, better, and more permanent building to meet the future needs of the local Muslim Community.
