Br Riam Al-Safadi (A volunteer from Canadian Relief for Syria) who recently came from Syria from a relief mission presented about the situation in Syria. Since the conflict started huge number of people have been affected and forced to live in refugee camps because their homes have been completely destroyed. According to UN over three millions are living in refugee camps outside Syria and over 6.8 million have been displaced internally. 165,000 died and over 850,000 injured since the war started. Lots of human lives could have been saved if there was medical treatment available. Over 75% hospitals have been destroyed in the area. Because of unavailability of medical treatment even minor wounds turns infectious and causing deaths.

ICNA Relief launched a massive campaign two years ago to help our brothers and sisters in Syria. We raised and spent $500,000 on emergency food relief, medical supplies and equipment and children education.

ICNA Relief also supports close to 3000 orphan kids in different parts of the world every year through its “orphan sponsorship program”. Funds raised for this cause are spent on building orphanages and provision of food, education and lodging of orphans.
