March Break is over but the Memories will last forever
to a friend
For the Muslim Children who attended March Break 2012 will have a different meaning as they gathered memories like none other.
Muslim Association of Canada (MAC) organized a jammed packed activity camp for the Muslim Children during the March Break, from Sports, to Arts & Crafts, To Islamic Studies, Nasheeds, to skits and no camp is complete without a field trip – yes fields trip to the Vancouver Aquarium – where children were taken a day tour of fun-filled activities.
The whole program was well organized and managed from planning to execution. All volunteers were assessed based on the criteria determined by the provincial government, when dealing with the children, such as criminal background check, and having required ratio of number of adults per group of children.
The children were divided into different groups according to their age, and each group had been assigned with strict schedule and appropriate adult supervision.
There were mini Soccer, Basketball, Volleyball and Dodge ball Tournaments, and Air hockey, and Table Tennis were preferred over foosball by many children.
The children were provided with healthy snacks during the breaks.
The children were provided with ample assistance and material to explore the artists within, and take it home for keep sake or gifting it to their parents or siblings.
Islamic studies were directed to teach children the basics about the faith, through short stories of the Prophets and short Duaa (prayers).
During the day a period was allocated to practice a play or singing a nasheed in front of an audience for a reception, which was held in the evening on Friday, March 23, marking the end of a short, exciting and a very memorable March Break for many Muslim children in the community.
